__________________________________________________________
Greetings all.
Welcome to this month’s episode of the Iron Leg Radio Show.
This tiime out we have a very special show, dedicated to the music of Jimmy Griffin, from his earliest solo recordings, through his songwriting collaborations with Michael Z. Gordon and Robb Royer, on into his time with Bread.
Griffin was one of the most talented songwriters of the era, and you might be surprised by a few of the things he wrote and/or performed and the people he intersected with, from JJ Cale, to Lesley Gore, to Curt Boettcher, Rudy Vallee and the Carpenters.
As always, I hope you dig it, and I’ll see you next week.
Make sure you subscribe to the podcast in iTunes!
Peace
Larry
*In this episode I speculate that the Harper’s Bizarre track ‘Jessie’ was a Van Dyke Parks arrangement. I have since found out that it was in fact arranged by Bob Thompson.
Great collection, many thanks.
Enjoyed the show as always.
One very minor point….you have the Astronauts as being on Warner Brothers. I think this single was on RCA.
While I’m at it, I’ve listened to every one of your shows, and they’re always a treat. Once in a while I’ll hear something that I know, but the amount that I learn about far outweighs that. Thanks for all the work and effort you put into them.
Do you know if the Surprise Package material is available anywhere aside from the original 45s? I have “Out Of My Mind” on an old Rhino Nuggets lp, but that’s all I know about. “East Side West Side” is terrific!
Terrific to hear your montage on Griffin. I had his first fan club in 1963 and last heard him perform in 2004. These songs. brought back lots of memories. Thanks.
